What is Monsoon Academy?

Monsoon Academy is a training facility that teaches students the skills and knowledge needed to become a professional barista, including coffee preparation, latte art, brewing techniques, and customer service. We also provide courses and advice for individuals wanting to open their own coffee shops or run mobile coffee units

Who can attend Monsoon Academy?

The academy is open to anyone interested in learning about coffee, from complete beginners to those with some experience looking to improve their skills.

Where is Monsoon Academy located in the UK? 

Our Academy is at our roastery just outside of Stratford upon Avon on the Alscot Estate, CV37 8BL, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the town centre. An automatic gate at the end of the driveway will open as your vehicle approaches. Please park your vehicle alongside Monsoon Estates building on your right-hand side.

What qualifications do I need to enrol? 

There are no formal qualifications required, but a passion for coffee and customer service is recommended.

What type of training and support do you offer as part of your services?

We provide extensive training and support delivered by experienced professionals from our onsite coffee roastery. Our team is dedicated to assisting you at every step of your journey, from initial setup to ongoing operations. Our training covers essential operational skills, we provide you and your team with the tools and knowledge necessary to run a successful coffee shop, our trainer can assist you onsite with your business during the first days of opening, ensuring you gain confidence in running the business.

Is the training customisable to suit my coffee shop’s specific needs?

Absolutely! We understand that every coffee shop is unique. Our training programs are customisable to cater to your specific challenges and goals. We work closely with you to assess your needs and tailor our training and support accordingly.

Do you provide ongoing support after the initial training?

Course Information

What courses do you offer?

We offer a range of courses, including professional barista courses, home barista for coffee enthusiasts, latte art training, coffee experience and team bonding sessions.

How long do the courses last? 

Course durations vary.

What is the class size?

Classes are usually kept to a small size, around 4-6 students, to ensure personalised instruction and a hands-on experience.

Will I receive a certification upon completion? 

Yes, we can issue a certificate for any of our courses.

Vouchers And Gift Card's

How can I purchase a voucher for a coffee training course?

You can purchase a voucher directly from our website. Simply navigate to the "Training" page, select the course you want to purchase, and follow the checkout instructions. Vouchers can usually be sent via email or delivered as a physical card.

Is there an expiration date on the vouchers?

Yes, our vouchers typically have an expiration date. This is usually one year from the date of purchase, but please check the terms and conditions when purchasing a voucher for specific details.

Are there any restrictions on using the voucher?

Vouchers are generally redeemable for the specific course listed at the time of purchase, but they may also be used for other courses of equal value. Each voucher is issued for a named student and if there are any changes to type, time, date or student's name, we do need you to get in touch with us directly.

Can I purchase a voucher for a course that is currently sold out?

Yes, you can purchase a voucher for a course that is currently sold out. However, the recipient will need to check for availability and book their training after purchasing the voucher.

How does the recipient redeem their voucher?

The recipient can redeem their voucher by visiting our website, selecting the desired course, and entering their unique voucher code at the checkout. In-person bookings can also be made by presenting the voucher at our academy.

What if the recipient wants to book a different course than the one on the voucher?

If the recipient wishes to book a different course, the voucher can often be applied toward the value of that course, as long as it’s of equal or lesser value, alternatively if the recipient wants to upgrade, they can pay the difference. Please contact us for assistance.

Can I get a refund for the voucher if the recipient cannot attend?

Refunds for vouchers are subject to our refund policy. Typically, if the voucher is unused, a refund may be given within a specified period. Please refer to our refund policy for detailed information.

Will the voucher be sent electronically or as a physical copy?

You can choose to receive the voucher electronically via email or as a physical gift card sent to your address. Select your preference during the purchasing process.

Are group booking discounts available for coffee training courses?

Do I need to bring my own equipment? 

We provide all necessary equipment for training, but students are welcome to bring their own tools if they'd like to use them.

Job Opportunities

Can you help me find a job after completing the course?

While we do not guarantee job placement, we are happy to provide support in understanding job listings that may help you find employment in the industry.

What types of jobs can I get after completing a course?

Graduates can pursue careers as baristas, or even open their own coffee businesses, other areas that people have moved into are coffee importing, equipment sales and support etc

Health and Safety

What health and safety measures are in place?

The academy follows all health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe learning environment, including cleanliness and proper handling of equipment.

Cancellation and Rescheduling:

At Monsoon Academy, we want to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all our students. Here are a few important details to keep in mind regarding our Terms & Conditions for all courses:

  • There's no need to worry about bringing supplies— we provide everything you'll need for your chosen training course.
  • To help us create a positive learning environment, we kindly request that you leave plenty of time for your journey and aim to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your course, time for a coffee!
  • We understand that unforeseen delays can happen, but we do need to enforce a 15-minute arrival policy. Unfortunately, students arriving later than this won't be able to join the session, and cancellation in this case would be non-refundable. This helps us respect the time of everyone engaged in the session. For directions, please feel free to check our contacts page.
  • If you need to cancel your appointment, you are welcome to do so for a full refund within 14 days of booking. After this period, a small 20% admin fee will apply.
  • Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the training will result in the retention of 50% of the total cost of the training as a security deposit.
  • In the event that you can't make your appointment, please let us know by calling +44 (0)1789 459073 , and we would be more than happy to help you reschedule for another time. Please note that No-Show appointments are not eligible for refunds or rebooking.
  • Lastly, please be aware that vouchers are non-refundable. However, we happily offer 12 months of validity for all school vouchers, and regrettably, we cannot extend this period.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and we encourage you to contact us as soon as possible if a change to your registration is needed.
